Shakira Ringtones for Mobile Phones
Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll was born on 2
February 1977 in Columbia. Today she becomes more popular
simply as Shakira, and she is already a really famous
two-time Grammy Award-winning and eight-time Latin Grammy
Award-winning singer, songwriter, instrumentalist, record
producer, dancer and occasional actress who has become a
major figure in the entire pop music scene of Latin
America since the middle of 90s. In 2001, she broke
through into the English-speaking music market with the
appearing of her first album in that language, "Laundry
service", which has reached over fifteen million copies
worldwide. Nowadays, Shakira is undoubtedly the
highest-selling Colombian artist of all time, having sold
totally around fifty million albums all over the world.
She is also the only artist from South America to reach
the number-one spot on the Billboard Hot 100, the
Australian ARIA chart and the English Singles Chart. Her
successful professional career in music began, when she
was presented as a child to local theater producer Monica
Ariza, who was impressed with her and as decided to help
her development. Shortly after this important meeting,
Vargas, manager of Sony Bogota, held Shakira in high
regard and, returning to the Sony office, gave her
cassette to a song and artist director. He set up a
special audition in Bogotá, and also arranged for Sony
Colombia executives to arrive at it, with the main idea of
surprising them with the performance of Shakira. She
performed three songs there and finally impressed the
executives enough for her to be signed to record three
albums. Her debut compilation, entitled "Magia", was
created with Sony Music in 1991, when she was only fifteen
years old. Two years later, in 1993, Shakira presented her
second album "Peligro". This new record was better
received than "Magia", though it was still considered as a
small commercial failure in some degree, due to the
refusal of the singer to advertise it. Shakira then
decided to take a little rest from recording so that she
could graduate from high school, thus, she returned to
recording in 1995, using lots of different musical
influences, and mainly, resembling Alanis Morissette
affected some of her next albums. Her third studio
compilation, "Pies descalzos" brought her great fame on
the music market in Latin America. Its hits "Estoy aquí",
"Pies descalzos", "Sueños blancos", and "Dónde estás
corazón" became real pop icons at recent days.
